Former Delta Governor Okowa refutes allegation following EFCC arrest
Immediate past governor of Delta state Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has denied the allegation of fraud and diversion of the sum of N1.3trillion by the EFCC, being monies from the federation account during his eight year tenure as governor from 2015 to 2023.

The former governor made this known in a statement by his chief press secretary Olisa Ifeajika who said, the invitation and detention of the former governor was orchestrated by some desperate politicians ahead of 2027  politics.

According to him, the media report of the former governor have been mostly sensational, mischievous and gross misrepresentations of the facts of the matter.

The former governor CPS said the EFCC has not established any case against Okowa as is customary with the Anti-graft agency, saying he was only invited to answer questions relating to some petitions that were filed against him by some disgruntled elements.

The governor also urged media practitioners to always abide by the ethics of the profession, saying they should not allow themselves to be used by desperate power mongers whose stock in trade is to engage in political subterfuge.

It will be recalled that the former Delta governor was arrested and detained by the EFCC operatives in Port Harcourt for three days, before he was released by the Anti-graft agency.
