NUC presents certificate of recognition to Ebonyi University of ICT

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has recognized the Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science, and Technology, Oferekpe Agbaja, as the 278th university in Nigeria and the 66th state-owned university.

The development aims to create more admission opportunities for qualified students seeking tertiary education in the country.

Presenting the operational license to Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru in Abuja, NUC Executive Secretary Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu assured the university of the commission’s support.

He stated that the NUC would conduct a follow-up visit to assess the institution’s readiness before granting full operational status.

Ribadu also confirmed that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), JAMB, NELFUND and TETFund would recognize the university.

Governor Nwifuru emphasized that the university’s establishment seeks to improve access to quality and affordable tertiary education, particularly for indigenes, while addressing the state’s and nation’s technological manpower needs. He pledged sustainable funding to ensure the institution’s academic growth and quality assurance.
