Except urgent measures are taken by the federal government to check the prices of drugs in pharmaceutical shops across the country, it might worsen the already deteriorating situation in the nation’s health sector.

Some pharmacists and the Chairman National Association of Patent Medicines dealers, Warri Mr. Eugene Nnabuefe fumed over the alarming hike in the prices of drugs.

The dealers however called on the federal government to intervene as most patients in hospitals now find it difficult to pay for drugs after prescriptions.

If urgent measures are not taken, experts say this will eventually lead to an increase in mortality rate as fake drugs will eventually flood the market.
