NMA advocates policy statement for treatment of unknown patients
Rivers state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association has called on government at all levels to enable policy statements that would enhance the treatment of unknown patients, accident victims as well as gunshots victims in the country.
This was disclosed by the chairperson of the Rivers state chapter of the NMA Dr Adebiyi Obelebra who expressed concern over the lack of commitment in the implementation of the National Health act.
Speaking at the occasion, the NMA Chairperson said the provision of affordable healthcare to citizens is a fundamental aspect of health coverage.
The Rivers State Government represented by the permanent secretary Ministry of health Caroline Wali says the government will continue to deliver quality healthcare to its citizens, while the guest speaker calls for quick implementation policy of treatment for the unknown patients.
The NMA chairperson noted that the Federal Ministry of health was yet to put the template on how to utilize the one per cent consolidated revenue fund for handling emergency conditions in use, even as she advocated for the training of health workers in handling basic life support.
