Chairman Guma Local government area of Benue state, Anthony Shawon, has called for more effective policing of the border towns between Guma and Nassarawa, saying herdsmen militia are still attacking and killing them.

The council boss who was at the police command headquarters in Makurdi, to inform the police commissioner of another recurring attack of killing in its locality, appeal for more deployment to help end the killings.

Guma local government area which is the largest with 10 council wards, mostly hit by herdsmen attack shares vast borders with neighbouring Nassarawa state.

While the local government boss continues to expresses worries over the porousness of the border lines despite military presence, wonders what could be happening as the militia still gain access to attack them, but the police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, assures him of more reinforcement in those areas and other affected parts of the state.

Our correspondent reports that the commissioner who briefed newsmen on the occasion said one of its missing non-commissioned officers in last Saturday battle with the militia in Guma has returned safely and reunited with his team.
