Certificate Forgery: Court Decides APC Vs Obaseki Suit 9 Jan
Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed Saturday 9th January 2021 to deliver judgment on the alleged certificate forgery suit instituted by Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, by the APC.
Galaxy’s Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that the court made this known Thursday evening sequel to the adoption of the final written addresses of all parties in the suit where the APC and a party chieftain, Edobor Williams are the plaintiffs, with Obaseki, the PDP and INEC are the defendants.
The case which began in Benin City in mid-July 2020 was moved to Abuja in August for continuation.
With the stipulated 180 days scheduled to hear a pre-election matter scheduled to lapse on the midnight of Saturday the 9th of January, the APC had brought a total of six witnesses to forward their case of alleged certificate forgery.
Obaseki and the PDP, on their parts, had maintained that the defendant was a graduate of the University of Ibadan, bringing three witnesses, one of whom was the deputy registrar legal of the University to reinforce the claim that the Edo State governor was not guilty of any wrongdoing.
Upon completion of the suit this Thursday, all parties have expressed confidence of having a favorable judgment.
