Chief of Defence Staff Reiterates Commitment to Enforce President’s Directive on Arms

The Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Lucky Irabor has reiterated his commitment to enforcing the order by the president to deal decisively with anyone illegally bearing AK.47 or any other arms in any part of the country.

He made the disclosure in Asaba the Delta state capital when he paid a transit visit to the Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at the government house.

The defence chief who was accompanied by the commanders of the JTF and the 63 Brigade, briefed the governor on his mission to the region and the need for peace.

Fielding questions from newsmen, Gen. Lucky Irabor said the mandate of the president to deal with anyone wielding arms must be enforced.

When asked about the influx of arms in the country, the defence chief said anyone carrying arms illegally is a threat to the country.

The defence chief is expected to visit other states in the south-south and the south-east as part of his commitment to preach peaceful co-existence among Nigerian’s.
