Delta Group Urges Military to Release Arrested Okuama Professor, Others.
An Urhobo pressure group under the umbrella body of Urhobo Renaissance Society has called on the military to immediately release arrested leaders of Okuama Community, prominent among them is Professor Arthur Ekpekpo and two others arrested at various locations in the state.
The group in a statement by its secretary John Uwa made available to journalists, said the military should take the arrested professor and two others to court for prosecution and not to detain them. They call for the release and public dissemination of the report by the military investigation panel on the Okuama incident, urging the government to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
It will be recalled that Professor Ekpekpo and seven others were declared wanted by the military for allegedly involved in the gruesome murder of four officers and thirteen soldiers of the Nigerian Army on March 14th. While the monarch of the community surrendered himself to the military before he was released, others went underground before they were picked up at different locations in the state. The military is yet to issue any statement regarding their arrest since they were arrested on Monday the 19th.
