Edo Group Express Concern over Insecurity
A group under the aegis of Talakawas Parliament have expressed concern over the spate of insecurity amid fears rocking the Benin/ Auchi road which have led to the killing and abduction of many travellers.
The group in a press briefing in Benin City, the Edo state capital by the president Kola Edokpayi, called on the Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki to build up a better security network along the highway that has become the kidnappers’ safe haven.
He lamented the daily kidnap of travellers and students on the road leading to Abuja, while some community youths from Orhiowon also expressed displeasure over kidnappers’ activities in Edo state.
It will be recalled that the Edo state police command rescued thirteen travellers which include naval ratings along the Ekpoma expressway, while five persons are still being held in the forest by their abductors.
