Experts want all hands on deck to end TB
Experts in the health sector have called on stakeholders to design evidence- based policies and new technologies to motivate the control of Tuberculosis in Nigeria.
Chairman Board of Stop Tuberculosis Partnership, Professor Lovett Lawson disclosed this in Abuja.
He lamented over one million deaths caused by 8 to 10milion new cases of tuberculosis diagnosed yearly, saying much needed to be done to reduce the 95% cases of the disease which is more prevalent developing countries.Lawnson also blamed the spread of tuberculosis on the fast spread of HIV/AIDS
Deputy Director , National TB and leprosy control Programme, Dr Ahmad Ozi said Nigeria is having the highest record of Tuberculosis in Africa and has been ranked the 6th in the world. He said all hands must be on deck to reduced the menace.
Federal government in collaboration with ministry of health had over the years provided quality patient preventive centre and support for free of charge for the control of Tuberculosis in Nigeria.
