Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday summoned emergency security meeting in the wake of the increasing wave of kidnappings by bandits and other escalating security challenges being faced in the Nation's Capital.

At the opening session, Wike assured residents that his administration and security agencies are actively working to curb the challenges, urging them not to panic.
The minister stressed that the government is actively supporting security forces with all necessary resources to combat insecurity in order to allay the fears of the citizens.

Wike also warned council chairmen against unnecessary trips, saying they must remain in their councils and take responsibility for issues within their purview.

While speaking about the rationale behind the emergency meeting, he stated that the meeting was conveyed so as to deliberate possible ways to resolve the insecurity problem in FCT.
Gunmen have been brazenly invading communities, forcibly entering people’s homes, and abducting residents from their residences in the FCT.
