FG Advised to Establish Disability Inclusion Commission
As Nigerians join the rest of the world to celebrate the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Federal Government has been advised to set up Disability Inclusion Architecture (NDIA) in order to ensure the wellbeing of people in this category. Persons Living with Disabilities in Abuja, led by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Hon. Ayuba Gufwan and other officials of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities joined others in Abuja to commemorate this year celebration with Road walk and Press Conference.
Galaxy Television reports that the Walk took off from the office of the Commission in Abuja down to the Unity Fountain with funfair. In his remark to commemorate the day, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Hon. Ayuba Gufwan, said the Commission is charged with the responsibility of creating awareness using departments and units in the Commission to ensure the monitoring of the level of compliance with the Act and carry out enforcements as the case may be.
He stressed the need for National Disability Inclusion Architecture (NDIA) to Strengthening governance and institutional structure of NCPWD and other institutions and levels of government statutorily involved in implementation of the Disability Act. He called on all stakeholders to support bold reforms being championed by the Commission adding that, reforms often come with its measure of temporary pains.
Other speakers at the event canvassed for more support for Persons with Disabilities in the Country for their well-being. Speakers also enjoined Persons with Disabilities to continue to support the Commission for effective service delivery.
