FG sets up committee to decentralize police
The National Economic Council (NEC) has set up an interagency committee to tackle the menace of insecurity in the country.
Addressing journalists after Thursday National Economic Council meeting Abuja, the national security adviser, Babagana Monguno said the committee will be chaired by the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris.
Monguno said the committee which will have representatives from the 36 states of the federation will aim at decentralizing the police approach towards handling insecurity in the land.
He said resolving insecurity in Nigeria should be a collective task and that for the federal government alone.
