Lekki Massacre: FG Responds To CNN
The Federal Government has reacted to the recent report of CNN, insisting that there were no mass killings at the Lekki toll gate in the wake of the #EndSARS protests contrary to the general belief.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, was speaking at a media briefing today in Abuja.
Mohammed said those who alleged massacre at the toll gate only succeeded in misleading the world, he asked anyone who has contrary proofs to make them available to the panel investigating the matter.
The minister also described the event of October 20, 2020, as a “massacre without bodies.
The minister took a swipe at CNN for its piece on the Lekki incident, describing it as blatantly irresponsible.
Mohammed added that CNN goofed in its preconceived stance that the soldiers who were deployed to Lekki Toll Gate indeed shot at protesters, killing some of them.
In his concluding speech, the minister said the sanctions imposed on some broadcast media organizations by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) are justified, in view of the unprofessional acts of the organizations which were in clear breach of the Broadcasting Code, as stated by the Commission.
