Man Allegedly Rapes, Beats 30-Year-Old Lady in Ogun
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 42-year-old man, John Daniel, for allegedly raping and beating a 30-year-old lady in the Ota area of the state.
The suspect was reportedly arrested on Sunday 30th of May 2021.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested after the victim lodged a complaint about the incident at the Ota Divisional headquarters of the Command.
He said the victim had told the police that she went in search of a shop to rent for her business at about 6 pm on the fateful day when she met the suspect, who told her that “he has a container kept in his care by somebody, which she can use as a shop.”
Oyeyemi added that the suspect, asked the victim to follow him to where the container was, “but on getting to his house, the suspect asked the victim to sit down inside his living room, for him to call the owner of the container.”
However, the Police Spokesman said “surprisingly, the suspect suddenly locked the door, and brought out a screwdriver and a bottle with which he threatened her and ordered her to undress.
“She stated further that she was forcefully raped after getting beaten her mercilessly.”
Following the report, he said the Divisional Police Officer, Sango-Ota, Godwin Idehai, a Chief Superintendent of Police, detailed detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“The bottle and screwdriver were also recovered as an exhibit,” Oyeyemi stated.
He explained further that the victim was taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment, adding that the suspect had confessed to the commission of the crime.
Oyeyemi quoted the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, to have directed the transfer of the suspect to Anti-Hman Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
