NBC Meets Broadcast Ceos….Advocates Positive Participation
The National Broadcasting Commission, has appealed to Broadcast Organizations in the country, to play their role in setting positive narratives and helping to free the country from terrorism, kidnapping and secessionist's agenda.
Director General of the Commission, Charles Ebuebu made the appeal at a one-day stakeholders engagement with Chief Executive Officers of Broadcast Stations held in Abuja on Wednesday.
While noting that, public interest must be made a central focus in times of crisis and emergencies, he stated that, it is not a time for sensational reportage.
Ebuebu urged broadcast stations to be wary of content that can destabilize the peace of Nigeria and cause disaffection among citizens in the course of their duties.
Speaking on transfer of ownership of License, The Director General stressed that the commission has observed with concern, anomalies associated with transfer of ownership of License.
He lamented that some of the conditions applicants meet before licenses are granted to them were being jettisoned during transfers—calling for end to such actions by applicants.
Ebuebu however insist that the integrity of new licenses will be ensured before transfer is done. This he said will enable them keep to the terms of contract of such licenses, which are held in trust of the public.
