NECO Releases Results Of 2024 Internal Examination
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2024 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results, with 60.55% of candidates achieving five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics.
NECO Registrar, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, revealed this information during a press briefing at the NECO headquarters in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday.
According to Prof. Wushishi, a total of 1,376,423 candidates registered for the examination, comprising 706,950 males and 669,473 females. Out of these, 1,367,736 candidates sat for the exam, including 702,112 males and 665,624 females.
GALAXY TV reports that the he results showed that 828,284 candidates, representing 60.55%, obtained five credits and above, including English and Mathematics.
Meanwhile, 1,147,597 candidates, or 83.90%, secured five credits or more regardless of English and Mathematics.
Prof. Wushishi also highlighted a significant drop in examination malpractice cases, with 8,437 candidates involved in 2024 compared to 12,030 in 2023, marking a 30.1% decrease.
However, he noted that 40 schools in 17 states were found guilty of mass cheating, with one school in Ekiti State recommended for de-recognition due to widespread cheating in two core subjects and one science subject. NECO will hold discussions with the implicated schools before imposing sanctions.
Additionally, 21 supervisors from 12 states were recommended for blacklisting due to offenses such as poor supervision, aiding malpractice, absconding from duties, extortion, drunkenness, and negligence.
Prof. Wushishi encouraged candidates to check their results on the NECO website using their examination registration numbers.
