Former deputy governor of Edo state Comrade Philip Shaibu has described Mondays impeachment by eighteen members out of the nineteen lawmakers present at today's plenary as illegal. The former deputy governor made this known during a state broadcast in Benin city the Edo state capital.

Comrade Shaibu described the charges by the seven man committee which led to his impeachment as trump up charges. Speaking further, he called on Edo residents to rise up against what he described as tyranny and gang up against democracy.
