Police Arrest 4 Suspected Political Thugs, 2 Kidnappers in Oyo
Officers attached to the Federal Highway Patrol Team of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested four suspected political thugs in Ibadan, the State Capital.
The Suspects nabbed with arms, ammunition and assorted charms were arrested at the weekend along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Commissioner of Police in the State, Ngozi Onadeko who paraded the suspects before newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Eleyele said they were hired and were on their way to the venue of the APC Chairmanship Primary in Lagos when the long arm of the law caught up with them.
She disclosed that the suspects in their confessional statements admitted that they were hired by some politicians for the political event.
One of the suspects, Taye Esinola confessed to the crime adding that they were hired by some politicians to provide protection for them during the APC Chairmanship Primary held in Lagos at the weekend.
In another development, two suspects, identified as Nuru Adelere, 25 and Aderibigbe Segun 35 were arrested by officers of the State Police Command at Aborerin in Igangan under Ibarapa North for kidnapping an 18-year-old girl and demanded 200,000 Naira as ransom from her father.
Police sources further confirmed that the suspects, after receiving a sum of 90,000 Naira from the father of the victim had carnal knowledge of the girl.
The two suspects confessed that they kidnapped the victim but denied having carnal knowledge of the girl.
The Commissioner of Police promised that all the suspects will be charged to court after all necessary investigation.
