Police arrests kidnappers in Ogun
In its resolve to checkmate the activities of hoodlums who have taken kidnapping as a business venture, the Ogun state police command has confirmed the arrest of a gang of kidnappers who abducted the son of the chief imam of Ode Omi, and two others at a community in Ijebu Waterside on Sallah day.
Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, confirmed this known while briefing newsmen on the latest arrest made at the command headquarter, Eleweran, Ogun State.
The Police Boss said despite the ambush of the boat and the blockade by the kidnappers in the creeks, the police overpowered the kidnappers arresting five of them initially with three losing their lives while engaging officers of the command.
He added that the Police officers who sustained injuries were recuperating.
Leading the operations, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Edwards Ajogu said the operations towards bringing lasting peace at the waterside is ongoing. He said the police deployed her assets both on the land and air.
Correspondent John Felix reports that items recovered from the kidnappers include; two cut to size gun, four live cartridges, one cylinder, one boat engine and assorted charms.
