Speaking with newsmen in Akure, the police public relations officer, Mr Femi Joseph said only the bus driver was abducted

 

The command's spokesperson explained that the bus was without passengers noting that the driver's family had been contacted by the kidnappers and a 10 million naira ransom was placed on him.

 

He frowned at the news trending in some national dailies and social media about abduction of 18 passengers in Akure, saying some journalists are in the habit of reporting unverified news stories.

 

Mr Joseph hinted that the police would not only rescue the victim unhurt but would also ensure that the perpetrators face the music.
