REPS Pass 2024 Appropriation Bill….Adjourn Plenary Till January, 2024
The House of representatives Saturday passed a total sum of twenty eight trillion, seven hundred and seventy seven billion, four hundred and four million, seventy three thousand, eight hundred and sixty one naira as Budget for the 2024 fiscal year.
Chairman of the House committee on appropriation, Hon. Abubakar Bichi who presented the report of the committee on the Appropriation Bill before the house, said 1 trillion, 742 Billion, 786 Million, 778 thousand, 150 naira is for statutory transfer, 8 trillion, 270 Billion, 960 Million, 606 thousand, 831 naira is for debt service, 8 trillion, 768 billion, 513 million, 380, thousand 852 naira for recurrent non debt expenditure while 9 trillion, 995 billion, 143 million, 298 thousand, 28 naira is for funding for capital expenditure.
Earlier, the speaker, house of representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas in his opening remarks said six months after its inauguration on June 13, the House of Representatives has considered 962 Bills, 500 Motions and 153 Petitions.
Hon. Abbas also warned henceforth that elections should be won and lost at the ballots, not again in the courts
According to Speaker Abbas, who gave account of stewardship of the lower chamber since inauguration also explained that the house has referred a total of one hundred and twenty-two (120) bills to committees, for in-depth analysis, while the Lawmakers he said have successfully passed many other bills, which have been transmitted to the Senate for concurrence.
After the passage of the budget, the house then adjourned sitting to January 23, 2024 for more legislative activities.
