The House of Representatives will commence the 2025 budget defence sessions with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on Tuesday.

The exercise will run until January 17, with reports harmonized on January 22, and the Appropriations Committee’s final report presented at plenary on January 31.

Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi , disclosed this after the panel’s inaugural meeting. He assured that the committee, along with the standing committees, would thoroughly scrutinize the proposed budget in the interest of Nigerians.

President Bola Tinubu had presented the N49.74 trillion 2025 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly on December 18, 2024.

The House passed the budget’s second reading the following day and referred it to the Appropriations Committee and its sub-committees for further legislative action.

Bichi emphasized that the budget, aimed at driving infrastructure development and other key projects, would be carefully reviewed to ensure it meets the needs of Nigerians.
