Troops Discover More IPOB/ESN Camps In The South East
Following the killing of 5 personnel at the checkpoint in Abia State, Defence Headquarters says troops of the Nigerians Military have arrested, discovered and destroyed several IPOB/ESN camps across the region.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba who made the disclosure at the biweekly briefing on the ongoing military operations held at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, said the arrest were made through intelligence based operations conducted by troops in the region.
He added that thorough investigation were conducted and those found culpable were detained and assisting troops to locate other camps, sleeper cells and high profile individuals involved in the activities of the terrorists group.
Speaking on the operational successes in the last two weeks, the director said the troops neutralised no fewer than 197 terrorist, arrested 332 criminal element and rescued 251 kidnapped hostages across all theatres of operations during the week under review.
While assuring the military commitment to continue to work tirelessly to restore safety and security across the country, also appeal to the citizens to give the military necessary support to smoothen the fight against terror group in the country.
