ULC commends National Assembly
The Kogi state chapter of the United Labour Congress (ULC) has expressed gratitude over the approval of funds for the completion of Ajaokuta steel company in the state.
The ULC in an appreciating message thanked both the lower and upper chambers of the National Assembly for the speedy passage of $1b Excess Crude Account (ECA).
While outlining the importance of the company, the chairman of the labour group in the state, Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo emphasised that the Steel company would help create job opportunities and curb the unemployment issues among Nigerian graduates. Eleojo furthered that the Steel company would bring about a bedrock to the technological development of the nation.
The ULC chairman urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the bill into law and urged the presidency on the swift release of funds for the rehabilitation of the project.
In his own words, Opaluwa said; "I wish to on behalf of United Labour Congress, Kogi State Council, thank both lower and upper chambers of National Assembly for the speedy passage of $1b excess crude account (ECA).
We are urging President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the bill into law and direct the release of the fund for the rehabilitation and completion of Ajaokuta Steel Company and external infrastructure which has the capacity to generate 10,000 direct and 500,000 indirect job for our teeming unemployed graduates of Engineers, craftsmen, artisans and commercial staff.
The company has the ability of diversifying the nation’s economy and serve as a bedrock to the technological development of the nation.
