Women urged to embrace empowerment programs
The national centre for women development has advised women to attend empowerment programmes designed to reduce poverty for the attainment of self- sufficiency and financial Independence.
president of the National Centre for Women Development Mary Ekepere Eta gave the advice during the combined graduation ceremony of the 2017- 2019 courses and vocational skills programme and training of female artisans in Abuja, Friday.
Ekepere-Eta said the ultimate goal of the programme is to contribute to poverty reduction by creating enabling environment for beneficiaries to attain self-sufficiency and financial independence
She said it is also to move women from the stereotype traditional skills to withstand the growing demand for skilled workforce in the Nigerian construction industry.
Wife of the President represented by the senior special assistant-in-charge of administration, Dr Adio Sani said the government will not relent in its effort to keep empowering women for the growth of the Nation.
Mayowa Akinyemi, a mother of four expressed satisfaction with the empowerment programme calling on women and young girls to take advantage of the programme to make ends meet.
Ekpere Eta also urged the graduating students to make good use of the opportunity given to them and also be good ambassadors of the federal government of Nigeria.
