Former president of the Ijaw Youth Council(IYC) worldwide Dr. Chris Ekiyor reportedly escaped death by the whiskers as suspected Fulani herdsmen released gunshots on his vehicle, along the East-West Expressway, Ughelli community in Delta state.

He was said to have escaped being hit by the bullets of the suspected herdsmen because the car conveying him was bullet proof.

 Briefing newsmen and the present leadership of the IYC led by Barrister Pereotubo Oweilaimi at his country home in Patani where he took them around the car, Dr. Ekiyor narrated his ordeal. He further revealed that the appearance of the attackers portray them as herdsmen while the current president of the IYC condemns the attack.

Series of attacks by suspected herdsmen were carried out last year along the Ughelli axis of the East-West road. Former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Ughelli police station was killed along the expressway.
