Ganduje finally sacks political appointees
Kano state government has directed public officers holding political appointments to hand over the affairs of their offices in line with established procedures.
Secretary to the Kano State Government (SSG), Alhaji Usman Alhaji, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs (REFA), Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota, indicates that the political appointees affected by the directive include Special Advisers, Chief Executive of Parastatals, government-owned companies, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Personal Assistants, Board members, etc.
It, however, exempts Kano state civil servants holding positions of Executive Secretaries and Managing Directors of Parastatals and Government owned companies.
The SSG directs all concern political appointees to hand the affairs of their offices, including government properties in their possession to permanent secretaries or the most senior officer in the organization latest by Monday, June 3, 2019, and forward copies of hand over notes to the Cabinet Office for records.
The statement also clarifies that public officers appointed into organizations that are tenure based and whose term has not expired should continue to hold office as stipulated by relevant laws guiding their appointments.
The SSG, according to the statement, expresses Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s sincere appreciation to the appointees for their contribution toward the development of the state.
