PDP LED EDO HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY SUE FOR PEACE
Edo State House Of Assembly has expressed fears that the current violence taking shape following the crisis rocking it may be drifting the state towards anarchy except something drastic is done to arrest situation.
Speaker of the PDP led faction of the state Assembly, Festus Ebea, who made this known during plenary in Benin – City, called on traditional rulers and elder-state men to wade in with a view to starve off the crisis in the state.
The Speaker, called on the security agencies to investigate the caliber of persons the governor now recruit into the various agencies in the state, saying that information reveals that such persons would be use to fester violence.
The PDP led Assembly which has 9 members has been in crisis since June 5, 2014 after it fell apart with the opposition APC on grounds of misconduct raised by the opposition when it was allegedly rumored that some of the members were planning to impeach the governor since then the house has known no peace despite entreaties on both sides to resolve crisis peacefully.
The present crisis which is fasting gaining momentum would no doubt snowball except it is arrested hence members are calling for peace.
Out of the eight honorable members who sat today one was attacked few weeks back and in critical condition and is yet to resume, other lawmakers on the floor of the house while condemning the attack, the explosion that happened at the weekend berate the governor for not condemning what happened. They said all hands must be on deck.
The house later adjourned sitting till on the 21st 0f October 2014, meanwhile the APC lawmakers who briefly met today adjourned till on Wednesday to enable it three principal offers keep up their appointment with EFCC ON TUESDAY 21ST OCTOBER.
