Following the presentation of the Rivers State 2025 Appropriation Bill before the Victor Oko-Jumbo led Rivers State House of Assembly by Governor Siminalayi Fubara and subsequent passage of same into law, the main opposition party in the state , the All Progressives Congress, APC, have described the action as illegal.

The Rivers State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Tony Okocha, has said the presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill to pro Fubara 5-member Rivers State House of Assembly is illegal and in violation of court rulings as well as established governance protocols.

Okocha, who spoke to journalists in Port Harcourt said the governor’s actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for the rule of law and judicial pronouncement.

Okocha also criticized the governor for his leadership style which he described as divisive and confrontational while accusing him of aiming for war instead of genuine reconciliation .

He said he foresaw escalating political tensions in 2025, accusing the governor of stoking hostilities rather than fostering reconciliation.
