NIGCOMSAT Release Statement To Debunk Accusation Of Inadequacy
The accusation by the deputy chairman, Science and Technology Committee at the national conference, Mr. Ezekiel Izuogu, that NIGCOMSAT is incapacitated in the rescue of the abducted girls because of financial constraints and lack of infrastructure, has been addressed by the Head of Corporate Communications of the company, Mr. Sonny Aragbe-Akpore in a statement.
Aragbe-Akpore termed Izogu's accusation as false adding that such an insinuation is a misrepresentation of the activities of the company.
He explained that The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited deals soley with communication technology and not surveillance.
The statement went on to stress that NIGCOMSAT was purely a satellite company with the core mandate to provide transponder leasing services to telecommunications, broadband, broadcast and related companies, adding that the company also provides, deploys and implements turnkey solutions including internet infrastructure, Voice-over Internet Protocol (VOIP), satellite communications, wireless communications, among others.
“Indeed, it is not an earth observation and remote sensing company; so, the information that it was incapacitated in the search and rescue mission for the Chibok girls is completely misplaced,” it added.
Izuogu made the accusation during a press interview.
