Govt charged on adequate funding of health sector
The Federal government has been advised to ensure proper funding of the health sector for the attainment of 'health for all agenda'.
A former member of the house of representatives, Saheed Fijabi and the chairman, National Association of Nigeria Nurses And Midwives, University college hospital, Ibadan chapter, Ronke Bello while speaking with journalists at the closing session of the 2019 nurses week accused government at all levels of paying lips service to healthcare delivery in the country.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that hon. Fijabi and Bello called for improved welfare package for health officers in the country; especially nurses in order to boost their morale for improved services.
On his part, the chief medical director of the hospital, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo who was represented by the chairman, medical advisory committee of the hospital, Dr. Victor Akinmoladun appealed to the nurses to remain committed to their duties despite the challenges facing the health sector in the country.
