5 arraigned for allegedly diverting petrol
Five persons have been arraigned before Owo Magistrate court for the allegedly diverting 32,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The five persons are facing a three-count charge of felony, bothering on stealing and unlawful diversion of fuel thereby compounding the suffering of the masses and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code cap 37 volume 1 laws of Ondo state of Nigeria 2006.
This development was one of the numerous results achieved through the special petroleum task force set up by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in the wake of fuel scarcity which has virtually crippled socioeconomic of the state and the people.
The special petroleum task force has continually warned petroleum marketers in the state against diversion, hoarding and the illegal increase of pump price with a promise to prosecute any erring marketer.
However, the accused persons were granted bail and the case was adjourned till 12th of March this year.
