Abiodun grants FADAMA graduates land under anchor borrowers scheme
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed that the 200 beneficiaries of the Ogun State Fadama III Graduate Unemployed youths Scheme (Fadama Guys) would be given automatic slots to be the first set of farmers that would derive grants from the Ogun State Anchor Borrowers Programme launched last Monday in the state.
Dapo Abiodun made this known at the official flag-off ceremony for Fadama Graduate Unemployed youths Scheme(Fadama Guys), held at the governor's office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital.
He said that the Fadama Guys was a particularly unique programme as it targets two main vulnerable groups - women and youths - of the population.
He observed that agriculture is becoming an antidote to the twin problem of poverty and insecurity in the country, adding that a gainfully employed citizenry would contribute in no small measure to the socio-economic development of the state and the country.
The beneficiaries thanked the state and federal government for their supports through the scheme. They promised to be good ambassadors of the state
Correspondent John Felix reports that Gov. Abiodun seeks to put 40,000 youths on the Anchor Borrowers scheme with support from the World Bank and the Central Bank of Nigeria.
