Accident Claims 5 Lives in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
No fewer than five persons were confirmed dead in an accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus and a Scania truck at Ayetoro /Indomie on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ahmed Umar confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Thursday.
Umar noted that the suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and dangerous driving which led to the loss of control on the path of the bus driver and rammed into the moving truck.
He said that the crash occurred at 9:20 am and it involved a Toyota Hiace marked SPR 373 XA and Scania Truck with registration number GGE 468 XX.
He noted that nine persons were involved in the accident comprising six men and three women, saying that four persons were injured while five people died.
The FRSC boss explained that the injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital, Sagamu for medical treatment while the deceased were deposited at the same Hospital.
Umar described the crash as an avoidable accident and advised motorists to avoid excessive speed and dangerous driving especially in the rainy season and also obey traffic rules and regulations.
The sector commander commiserated with the victims of the crash and the family and also enjoined them to contact the FRSC command in Mowe for details of the crash and reclaim the properties of the victims recovered from the scene of the crash.
