Gunmen Kill 3 policemen, Set Vehicle Ablaze in Anambra
Gunmen have reportedly killed three policemen and set their patrol vehicle ablaze around 9 am today along Ukaegbu/Ezeiweka road in Onitsha Anambra state.
The gunmen were said to have opened fire and killed the three policemen who mounted a checkpoint along the road, while two others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Some community residents have several months been lamenting over what they described as extortion on the part of policemen at the security post, which some say may have prompted the attack.
The new police commissioner Tony Olofu had also on Wednesday during a press briefing after his resumption at the police headquarters in Amawbia near Awka, warned that he would not hesitate to sack any policeman collecting bribe from motorists and citizens.
No group has claimed responsibility as at the time of filing this report.
