Makinde Declares Support For Community Policing
Governor Seyi Makinde has pledged his support for the smooth take-off of the community policing programme initiated by the inspector general of police, Muhammed Adamu.
Makinde gave this assurance while addressing the newly recruited community police officers at their training camp in Eleyele Ibadan.
The Governor in his address informed the newly recruited community police officers that he will give his full support to the smooth commencement of the operation in Oyo state.
Makinde, who is the Chief Security officer of the state said the government under his watch will provide the necessary support for the officers for effective security system especially at the grassroots.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Governor was at the training ground of the newly recruited community police officers as part of his decision to support the state police command and to boost the morale of the intending officers.
At least 50 volunteers will be recruited from each of the 33 local government Areas in Oyo state.
According to Inspector General of Police Muhammed Adamu, Community Policing would take care of crimes at the grassroots where people could easily identify those engaged in criminal activities.
