Legal Practitioner Carpets AGF Malami over Open Grazing

As reactions continue to trail the May 11th meeting of the Governors of the 17 southern states of the Federation, a south East based legal practitioner has faulted the analogy put forward by the Attorney General of the Federation wherein he likened the ban on open  grazing in the south to a ban on spare parts trading in the North.

The legal practitioner who said it was unfortunate for the AGF to put forward such an analogy, said there is no correlation whatsoever between them.

Speaking on the legality of the Asaba declaration, Barrister Okoli said Akirika said the Governors were within their rights to make the declarations as section 1 of the Land Use Act, by virtue of section 315 of the 1999 Constitution vested in them the power over lands within the territories of their individual States.
