Makinde Insists on Reopening Schools by July 15
Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has restated the determination of his administration to reopen public schools in the state by July 15, 2020.
The governor who gave the assurance in Ipapo, Itesiwaju local government area of Oyo state during the commissioning of classroom blocks stated that all measures are being taken to ensure the resumption of academic activities in the state.
The governor revealed that all forms of holidays including the long term break have been cancelled adding that the new academic session would commence at the completion of the two weeks remaining for the second term to end.
The governor also promised that his administration would not compromise its determination to qualitative education across the state hence the increase in the allocation to the sector in the 2020 budget.
In their separate remarks, the chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education, Dr, Nureni Adeniran and the representative of UBEC commended the Makinde administration for its commitment to funding of education in the state.
