Reps Order Arrest of FCDA Officials

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has ordered the arrest of FCDA Executive Secretary Richard Dauda, FCTA Development Control Director Muktar Galadima, and FCT Regional Planning Director over alleged building code violations in Abuja.
Committee Chairman Hon. Mike Etaba stated that the officials repeatedly ignored summons, prompting the issuance of arrest warrants under the Legislative Houses Powers and Privileges Act 2017. He directed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure their arrest and compel them to appear before the committee on the 28th of this month.
During an on-site inspection in Guzape, Etaba revealed that the building in question lacked an approved plan. He emphasized the need for FCDA to present relevant documents to verify compliance with regulations and ensure the safety of affected residents.
The committee had earlier adopted a petition from House Committee on Customs Chairman,Hon Leke Abejide, whose counsel, Samuel Ajayi, argued that the disputed development in cadastral zone AO9399 violated FCT building codes and infringed on his client’s rights. The committee is urging authorities to take necessary action.
