The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has disclosed that troops of the Nigerian Military have recorded tremendous success as they neutralized 286 terrorists, arrested 244 suspected terrorists, and rescued 122 kidnapped hostages in their various operations in the last one week.

Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba who disclosed this while addressing journalists on the ongoing operations by the armed forces and other security agencies at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, said troops also recovered 587 assorted weapons and 7,943 assorted ammunition in the period under review.
He mentioned that troops of Niger Delta region in the course of their operation arrested 83 perpetrators of oil theft, discovered and destroyed 74 illegal refining sites containing 134 dugout pits, 79 boats, 116 storage tanks and 149 cooking ovens.

He added that troops in the South-South region also recovered 2,947,770 litres of stolen crude oil, 251,800 litres of illegally refined AGO, 6,125 litres of DPK and 6,790 litres of PMS with estimated value of Two Billion Five Hundred and Sixty Five Million Four Hundred and Seventy Nine Thousand and Seven Hundred and Twenty Naira (N2,565,479,720.00) only.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, noted that all recoverd items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages were handed over to the relevant authority for further action.
