Ogun NANS Threatens Shutdown of Tertiary Schools over Insecurity
Following the unfortunate abduction of two female students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ayetoro campus in Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students Ogun Axis/Joint Campus Committee has called on the state government to speedily see to the quick, safe and sound rescue of Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola from the hands of the abductors.
Addressing Journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, Chairman, NANS Ogun JCC Axis, Damilola Simeon expressed disapprobation over the incessant kidnappings of Nigerian Students not only in Olabisi Onabanjo University but across the country.
While condemning the silence of the Federal government, Ogun State government, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, the NANS Chairman said the agonies inflicted by the abductors who go about unabashedly pulverizing Nigerians everyday is unfathomable.
He said the failure of the government to emancipate the abducted students within four days will lead to the total shutdown of Tertiary academic activities in the state.
Simeon however enjoined all and sundry to provide moral support, intelligence and timely information to the appropriate authorities.
Correspondent John Felix reports that Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola, of the departments of Forestry and Wildlife Management and Agricultural Economics respectively were kidnapped in front of their hostel on Sunday night at Olowu area of Ayetoro.
