Police arrest eight suspected kidnappers, cultists in Anambra
The police in Anambra says it has arrested eight suspected kidnappers and cultists who have been terrorizing residents in ihiala and Aguata council areas of the state.
The police in a statement by its spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga made available to newsmen, said the suspects were arrested in their hideouts in Nnewi, following the reported case of a kidnap victim who was later released.
The suspects were said to have confessed to being active participants in the crime, and have also provided information to the police that is aiding investigation.
Upon interrogation according to the police, the suspects confessed to being members of the black axe secret cult terrorizing the communities.
The Anambra police commissioner Nnaghe Obono assured residents of adequate protection of lives and property, while also promising that the arrested suspects will be charged to court on the conclusion of investigation.
One long gun. a locally fabricated gun, ammunition and a suspected stolen vehicle was recovered from the suspects.
