Police parade alleged IPOB members
The Nigeria Police Force, Anambra state Command has paraded some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for allegedly killing a police inspector in the Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The Force's PRO, Acting DCP Jimoh Moshood led other officers in parading the alleged IPOB members who allegedly killed the inspector and went further to cause mayhem in the state.
The force PRO while addressing the press, said that IPOB remains a proscribed group in Nigeria, and any attempt by the group to destabilise the peace of any state in the south-east, will be resisted by the force.
He told pressmen that the suspects will soon be charged to court.
The press conference going on smoothly but took a different turn when Mr. Moshood started reading out the offences for which the suspects were arrested.
The visibly surprised suspects who were seated in the same conference hall started shouting as a way of protesting their innocence.
Normalcy was however restored when they were assured by the Force PRO that they will be given the opportunity to speak to the press.
While speaking with journalists, some of the suspects claimed that they have no link whatsoever with IPOB. They alleged that they were just in their various shops when military men in a commando-style ambushed them and forced him into a waiting vehicle.
