Protesting Edo market women storms Oba palace
Aggrieved members of Edo state market women union and traders have protested to the palace of the Oba of Benin, over corruption allegation and funds diversion against the current market women leader Mrs Blacky Ogiamen.
The women who displayed placards with different inscriptions calling for the removal of the present women leader who was alleged to have embezzled over a hundred million naira.
Addressing palace chiefs who came to receive the protesters on behalf of the Oba of Benin, spokesperson of the Edo traders welfare Union Comrade Lucky Orukpe said the present market women leader have become a problem for the traders.
A market woman leader who spoke in her local Edo language, said...Quote' Oba please come to our aid and find a lasting solution to the corruption being perpetrated by our market woman leader 'unquote.
Responding on behalf of the Oba of Benin, a palace Chief who also spoke on the Edo dialect said Quote ' I thank you for the peaceful demonstration, I promise to relate to the Oba for quick response ' 'Unquote.
