The House of Representatives has urged all higher institutions across the country to henceforth put an end to post JAMB and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination screening.

Lawmakers lamented that after payments and undergoing rigorous registration and examination processes as a final step to gaining admissions into Higher institutions, universities subject students to another internal examination, on payment of yet another fee without any consideration for indigent parents and their wards.

Honourable Ademorin Kuye who lead the motion on the floor of the house during Wednesday plenary argued that, if universities could repose trust in the examinations conducted by WAEC and NECO  by accepting their results, then management of higher institutions must also accept them.

Kuye urged his colleagues to support the motion to help hasten the process to scrap post JAMB/UTME examinations.

Lawmakers agreed with honourable Kuye, asking the government to reconsider conduct of the examination to encourage more Nigerians to attend higher institutions.

The house, however, mandated the committee on Tertiary Education and Services to call for a joint meeting of the Federal Ministry of Education, the Joint Admission Matriculation Board and the National Universities Commission, to develop a template, an acceptable standard of JAMB examinations, in conformity with the requirements of academic institutions in the country.
