Residents lament as task force comply with partial border closure
The move by the Federal Government to close land borders nationwide as part of efforts to address trans-border security challenges such as terrorism, the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, among others, witnessed compliance at the Idiriko Border.
Residents of Ogun state within the Idiroko Border boundary of Ipokia Local Government Area are appealing to the Federal government to seek alternative means of securing her people as the move is negatively affecting them.
In a chat with Correspondent John Felix at the Idiroko Border, resident who lives within the border says the closure has negatively affected their sources of livelihood. They lamented that the movement of goods and services within the border area helps in meeting their needs.
On ways to address their challenges, they urged the government to seek alternative means of securing the country; as the current approach is affecting them.
It would be recalled that the Federal government had said the overall objective is to ensure a peaceful and secure country in the interest of collective national security
