Rivers Police Command Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recovers Operational Vehicle
The Rivers state police command says it has rescued a kidnap victim, while also recovering the gang members black operational Toyota car.
The command in a statement by its spokesperson Grace Iringe-koko made available to newsmen, said the operation was carried out through a distress call which indicated that a four man armed gang kidnapped one Julius Madabuchi at a petrol station before shooting sporadically into the air as they escaped.
Operatives of the command was said to have mobilized to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a shootout which led them to abandon the victim in their operational vehicle and escaped.
Investigation according to the police is ongoing, while a syndicate terrorizing Oyigbo local government area was said to have been arrested alongside a cut-to-size gun and some substances suspected to be weed.
The successful rescue operation according to the Rivers police commissioner Mustapha Mohammed, further demonstrates the effectiveness of the police in combating kidnapping and all other forms of crime in the state.
