The Nigerian Senate on Thursday suspended all its rules to confirm Justice Abubakar Sadiq as the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Abuja. 

President Muhammadu Buhari had in a letter read by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on the floor of the red chamber at plenary asked the Senate to screen and confirm Justice Sadiq for the position. 

After Ekweremadu, who presided, read the President's letter, the Leader of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, raised a point of order asking the Upper Chamber to suspend its rules and immediately confirmed the nominee.

By this confirmation, Justice Sadiq will not go through the usual process of screening by the relevant committee.
