UNILAG SSANU,NASU Commence Warning Strike
The 7 day warning strike declared by leaderships of senior staff association of Nigeria universities, SSANU and Non academic staff union has commenced and effective at the university of Lagos, UNILAG.
When Galaxy news visited the campus at Akoka Yaba Lagos, members of the two labour unions have suspended their services while the officials are on ground to enforce the directive.
Speaking with Newsmen after an emergency caucus at the SSANU secretariat, the chairman of UNILAG council, said the 7 day warning strike is inevitable because government refused to meet with the leaders of the two unions after the issuance of ultimatum.
Speaking further, the UNILAG SSANU chairman said the strike shall be boosted by Wednesday because the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) will join the industrial action which will no doubt enhance the effect across the campus.
Comrade said after the ongoing 7 day warning strike and government still refused to engage the union leaders, the next line of action shall be decided and which will be total.
While observing activities on the campus, it was discovered that students are currently writing their exams and the strike action of SSANU and NASU has created a big problem for the students because the whole campus is without electricity and water because the workers in these departments have with old their services.
